Castles
In about 1100CE people started to build castles made out of wood. During the Middle Ages people then started to make castles out of stone held together by mortar a sand, limestone, and water mixture. Castles had keeps which held food incase of a disaster such as drought, famine, and disease. They had a drawbridge which was used to help keep out invaders usually bridged over a moat. HAd a great hall which was used for celebrations and also many feasts.
The noble and his family lived in the castle. The servants helped clean the castle and maintain it. Monks and nuns would sometimes help the children learn how to do basic mathematics and sometimes read. Castles also helped show power and wealth by the size but they were also a main target to the invaders from Norway and other neighboring manors.
